Week Six - Sticker Shop
The Internet has democratized and empowered the selling of art by allowing independent artists to open virtual online shops. Arguably the most popular product being sold is stickers.
Students were tasked to follow a couple of rules for this project: 1) no Pokemon or Disney characters (we briefly talked about copyright infringement), and 2) they could only choose 4 colors. Use of a limited palette brings cohesion and harmony to disparate pieces (like a sticker set) and is commonly seen in graphic design. It also gives students practice dealing with ambiguity. For example, how to color leaves when green isn’t available.
The kids were eager to share their designs with friends and family so hopefully you have at least one sticker from them.
The children had the option to add glitter glue to enhance their stickers. Stickers that had large blobs of glue had to stay with me so they could dry.
They did a wonderful job covering a wide variety of styles. The children took about half of the stickers home or to A+ to share with friends.
